Thanks to an awesome client at work, I was able to checkout the Seattle Art Fair last weekend. Really solid art show.
While being its first year, the show was awesome. It brought in galleries and art from New York and San Francisco that you just wouldn’t see around here.
The show was comprised of many mediums including some digital installation pieces.
Oh the things we saw....
Let’s start with this piece right here. The Blobfish.
Pretty awesome glass collage here was created using many layers of glass and cut out pieces of paper. If you looked at it 90 degrees from the side, you only see lines.
It is unthinkable that someone really made this. Layer by layer, the artist laid out collages on glass and pressed it together. Maybe its 12 or 16 layers. What an intricate piece!
I guess that’s what makes it art.
Besides the art for art's sake
There were some pieces which definitely touched on political and religious aspects of our world.
Below is a Synagogue made of bullets and Uzis. They had a similar Mosque and a Church made from bullets as well. A very powerful piece indeed.
Other fun stuff
Besides the obvious art forms, there were some interactive stuff.
There was a display based art piece that never displayed the same thing twice over at the front of the show. It was fresh for me to see algorithms used for an art installation. It made me think of possibilities I might be missing.
Below piece changed colors every time you touched it. It was a lot of fun!
Along with the header image, there is a picture below of an art piece using a false mirror. Really awesome idea to make an infinite loop using a false mirror. You can’t see yourself, so it looks like darkness continues into infinity.
