2015, a reflection in music (and some pictures)

2015, a reflection in music (and some pictures)

Here’s some music and pictures for each month that was 2015.  To be honest, 2015 was quite challenging.  It’s been full of headache from start to finish.

One of the lost art in our world is definitely that of a Mix tape. The web let’s you scrap book and mixtape at the same time. Sometimes, its good to be a web developer.

January

I’m a fan of Jose Gonzalez. Don’t be fooled by his name. He is definitely Swedish.

Februrary

Februrary

Washed Out. Just like the artist’s name might suggest, its full of reverb goodness.

March is Mr. Blue!

March

Jazzanova. As the name suggests, its like Bossa Nova in a Jazzy (almost hiphop) beat.

April

April

I found this song a while ago, but forgot about it. Its still quite good.

May

Boards of Canada is all about contemplating. Another good one from them is ROYGBIV.

June

June

I’ll make it this time. Steely Dan has always had a place in my heart.
I had the chance to go see them last year and I must say, Donald in recording and live are completely different voices. That said, he’s old and Steely Dan has always been more of a studio group. (Not to say that I didn’t enjoy the show. I really did!)

July

Fourth of July

Cut Copy somehow always reminds me of the Talking Heads. I’m not sure why. David Byrne lives in so much modern music, its not even funny (Brian Eno too).

August

Hot August

Neon Indian is probably better known for his Polish Girl, but I really loved this upbeat track. Interestingly, its only for GTA.

September

September

I found these guys along with Astronauts, etc through Hitcity records. Good sound.

October

Hunker down for October

These guys are definitely a current favorite. Khruangbin is awesome. Even NPR has caught on to them.

November

November

These guys earned the last two spots. They produce very hip sounds.

December

December

This I think is fitting as Seattle December starts to get a bit dark.
